Episode Notes

Welcome to Day 132 of Word for Word: The Bible. In this episode, we begin the book of Esther by reading Esther chapters 1–3.

Today’s reading introduces the Persian king Xerxes, the removal of Queen Vashti, and the rise of Esther—a young Jewish woman living in exile who is chosen to become queen. We also meet Mordecai, whose faithfulness and integrity place him at the center of a growing conflict with Haman, a powerful official whose pride and hatred lead to a terrifying plot against the Jewish people.

Although God is never mentioned by name in the book of Esther, His providence is already at work behind the scenes. These chapters remind us that even when God seems hidden, He is still moving, guiding, protecting, and preparing His people for what lies ahead.
